Captivated by the stuffed dog's intelligent eyes, alert ears, soft expression and its implied sense of loyalty. I had no idea at the time but those are the most redeeming traits of the German Shepherd breed.

 

Fast forward to 19, I was ready for the real deal, diving into research and finding a breeder who raised puppies a certain way. Along my travels I visited many breeders and breeding facilities.  I was uncomfortable with the way the dogs were sectioned off in kennels, how my introduction to the puppies was staged and I was only allowed to view the mom from a distance. Most often the sounds of barking and crying dogs was deafening.  I was raised with dogs running free and living in family homes. It was difficult to accept this reality. Then I met this man who had all his dogs living freely in his home. It was the most delightful chaos I could ever imagine.  His pups were bold, confident and social. That is what I envisioned for my future breeding program! 

 

Now, so many years later I confidently breed and train the very best German Shepherds possible. My dogs are integrated in my home and I do not use kennels or crates.  I rely on the fundamental relationships that are born from my willingness to trust and invest in the dogs as dogs. My desire is to help people understand dogs so they can develop the very best relationship possible.
